Chlorine sure to CYA is way more stable when subjected to UV mild and won't easily degrade. For this reason, CYA is excellent at protecting chlorine from UV reduction. The CYA molecule, without having chlorine connected, also absorbs some UV and radiates it back at a unique wavelength of light.
